Gameplay

Idle when you're busy, active when you're here

Every action runs on real time and keeps going while you're away. Stay around and every click counts.

Timed actions

Start an action, then build Momentum

Gather herbs, hunt rabbits, chop wood, mine ore or meditate: pick an action, choose how often to repeat it and let it run. Stay around and press Momentum to finish sooner.

  • The first press saves 30 seconds, each further one 10 seconds more – up to 2 minutes per press.
  • The ladder carries across a whole repeat series and resets after 60 seconds without a press.
  • Your offline queue keeps working while you're away: 2 hours to start, up to 8 hours through milestones, 24 hours with a membership.
Combat

Turn-based fights where every turn counts

Strike, dodge, heal or throw a potion: skills cost stamina or mana, grow stronger with mastery and clash with the five elements.

  • Slimes, boars, shore crabs, elite ambushes and zone bosses like the Slime King.
  • Status effects: slowed, poisoned, bleeding, stunned – and potions to clear them.
  • Legendary uniques and epic sets drop from the toughest foes.
Parties & group combat

Adventure in parties of up to four

From level 5, invite friends or join a public party on your map. Party mates on the same map get a share of each other's EXP – 15 % in a party of two, 12 % in three, 10 % in four – without a cap.

  • Join a party mate's running fight with one click – even boss fights.
  • Simultaneous rounds with a 30-second timer: everyone picks, then the round resolves.
  • Threat decides who gets hit. Warriors taunt with Challenge, bosses answer with area attacks.
Professions & crafting

Gather, craft and forge your own gear

Nine professions level up as you use them and unlock perks: double harvests, rare finds, thrift and better rarity rolls.

  • Seven rarity tiers from Common to Godlike with random affixes – your name goes on everything you craft.
  • Upgrade gear from +1 to +15 at the smithy, repair it, or sell it at the auction house.
  • Crafted sets like the Softfur Set – its cloak has its own slot over your armour – plus one gear set per class.

Story

You remember. The world doesn't.

A main story in three acts, told in scenes, quests and story cards – and it doesn't end when your life does.

  1. Level 1

    Awakening

No memory, no idea where you are. Only a rusty knife in your pocket – and other adventurers who woke up just like you.

  2. Level 15

    A flash in the night

The night you arrived, the village elder saw a light fall into the forest. She can't prove a thing. She believes it anyway.

  3. Level 15–20

    The swamp witch

Heilgrun sees the limits of every living being. Vain, vengeful, very old – and in you, she finds no limit at all. That frightens her.

  4. Level 30

    A bored host

Dr. Acula has not been beaten in centuries and is dying of boredom. Figuratively speaking. He invites you to a friendly duel to the death.

  5. Level 50

    The Mountain of Fate

No one waits on the summit. No monster, no master – only an opportunity: to ascend.

  6. Life 2

    Something is wrong

You wake in the forest again. The quests are back, the elder tells you about the light as if for the first time, and nobody knows your name.

Every Ascension rewrites the world, as if your last life had never happened. Nobody there remembers you – but you remember everything. Why? No one can tell you. And a few lives later, something whispers from the mountain …

Classes

Four paths. Choose yours at level 15.

World

From the Forest of Beginnings to the Mountain of Fate

Travel on the world map – by ferry, mule track, bridge or coach. Every region has its own actions, monsters and materials, most of them a boss.

World map with Dawnmere Village, the Forest of Beginnings, the Mistfen Marshes, the Saltwind Coast and the north: the Cliffs, Castle Acula, The Last Bite and the Mountain of Fate

Dawnmere Village

Your home base: inn, herb hut, smithy, market, auction house, guild hall, the Academy of the Five Phases and the Soul Shrine.

Forest of Beginnings

Herbs, rabbits, oak and ore, slimes and boars – and the level-10 Slime King waiting for a challenger.

Mistfen Marshes

Reached by ferry: rare herbs, dangerous beasts like the Mire Wyrm, the Sunken Shrine dungeon and the Spirit Spring for your breakthrough.

Saltwind Coast

For levels 10 to 24: the tide turns every hour, tide pools yield more at low tide – and Old Ironclaw only shows when the sea withdraws.

Into the mountains

New in 0.3.0
Level 20–35

The Cliffs

Up the mule track from the village: rich ore, mountain goats, vultures and cave trolls – but no trees and no fish. Higher up waits the Cave Troll Chieftain.

Level 30–45

Castle Acula

Across a swaying bridge: bats, blood spirits and a very polite host. His dungeon invites you to a friendly duel – party mates can join the final fight.

From level 40

The Last Bite

A roadhouse on the serpentine road: hot food, room 13 and a lot of happy screaming. Tessa stamps her card for your meat, herbs and fish – and trades the stamps for gear, weapons and skins.

Level 42–56

Mountain of Fate

Prayer flags, drifting lights and powerful spirits on the slopes, the Spirit of Fate among them. On the summit, from level 50: your Ascension.

Level 60–72

The Temple

Snowy cedars, stone Jizo statues and monks who have renounced the world. Here you break through to the Golden Core. The path stays hidden in the mist – until something happens on the summit.

Progression

Grow stronger in more ways than one

Cultivation realms

Meditate for Qi, climb nine stages and break through from Qi Condensation to Foundation Establishment – after surviving the Heavenly Tribulation – and much later to the Golden Core. The Academy of the Five Phases infuses your skills with your element.

Profession levels

Every profession has milestones with real effects and titles to earn along the way.

Collection book & sets

Every first find is recorded. Milestones grant permanent bonuses; legendary uniques and set pieces get their own pages.

Achievements

Earned by play, never sold, shared by every character of your account and kept through every Ascension: Slime Hunter I–IV (50 to 1,000 slimes) each add 2.5 % damage against slimes, hidden boss feats earn badges.

Skins

Wear the full Softfur Set to unlock the Softfur Bunny skin. Pick your skin per character in the settings – it changes your look, never your stats.

Login calendar

A small reward every day – Jade or crafting materials – and a bonus for a full week.

Ascension & Former Lives

Your name fades. Your soul goes on.

At level 50, once you have reached Foundation Establishment, you can ascend on the summit of the Mountain of Fate. You may choose a new first name, race and look, and you awaken in the Forest of Beginnings – your family name stays with you forever.

  • Ascension Vault

Everything you carried and all your gold wait for you in the Ascension Vault – gear with every upgrade and affix. Take out what you need, whenever you need it. Why it stays? Nobody knows.

  • Soul Tree

Soul points from your level, realm and defeated bosses grow the Soul Tree at the Soul Shrine: more EXP, starting supplies, bigger bags, an earlier class choice and more.

  • Every life is faster

Half of your profession EXP and skill mastery carries over, every class you held leaves a small legacy bonus – and the climb to level 50 gets shorter each time.

  • Former Lives

Every life is recorded with its name, class and what it left in the vault. Achievements, skins and the family vault belong to all of them.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is AscendMMO free?

Yes, you can play everything for free. A membership (500 Jade for 30 days) extends the offline queue to 24 hours and shows a badge; buying Jade and a monthly subscription are planned. Nothing you can buy makes you stronger in combat.

Do I need to download anything?

No. AscendMMO runs in your browser on PC, tablet and phone. Your progress is saved on the server.

What is Momentum?

Actions take real time. While you watch, you can press the Momentum button to cut the remaining time. The first press saves 30 seconds, each further one 10 seconds more, up to 2 minutes. The ladder carries across a repeat series and resets after 60 seconds without a press. After each press the button needs a short, random cooldown – attentive players are faster, bots aren't.

When do I choose a class?

At level 15. Win the trial against an echo of a former life at the Soul Shrine and choose Monk, Warrior, Sorcerer or Archer. A lost trial costs nothing – you can try again a minute later.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. From level 5 you can form parties of up to four heroes. On the same map you share EXP, and you can join a party mate's running fight – even against a boss.

What happens when I ascend?

The Ascension unlocks at level 50 in Foundation Establishment, on the summit of the Mountain of Fate. Your level starts over and the world forgets you, but you keep your family name, soul points for the Soul Tree, half of your profession EXP and skill mastery, the family vault and your account's achievements and skins. Everything you carried and all your gold wait in the Ascension Vault, and every class you held leaves a small legacy bonus. Each Ascension adds a life to your Former Lives.

Which languages are available?

German and English – the game, the chat channels and this website.
